COCKTAIL RINGS

[caption id="attachment_254" align="aligncenter" width="480" caption="Photo credit:hipgirlie.com"][/caption]

One of the perfect accessories this summer is the cocktail ring. Rings have always been my favorite piece of accessory. They are elegant and not in the face flashy if you know what I mean. It's really wonderful to see how a rather small piece of jewellery can do so much for your whole ensemble. I have always preferred them over neck pieces or even earings!! You can wear it to a party, for an evening out or brunch with your friends...And the best thing about them is that they won't get lost when you dance crazily in a club unlike earings which after a night of partying magically vanish from my ears or at least one of them does.... So yeah I am loving these cocktail rings.

There are loads of them in different designs available everywhere. Though they are just seeping in the stores now, I could see loads of them in striking colors in many shops.

Aldo accessories has a great collection starting from small diamond encircled pearl rings to different colored gems studded in silver bands. They also have these cute light gold colored flower rings in different sizes, shapes and colors. I would recommend the intricately designed floral petal ones and the gem studded serpent ones. They are moderately priced from Rs 325 onwards. I also found some white pearl rings which are classic, elegant and looks chic with almost every outfit. A silver ring set with a black square-cut gem is a must-have to go with those little satin dresses!!

Colaba causeway never fails me.  If your budget is a little less, then colaba causeway is your savior. Though you have to hunt a little, you are sure to find some great pieces there. If you like antique or vintage ones, then this place will blow you away. From the silver rings studded with colorful oval gems to semi-precious ones, it's all here. The rings mostly are not flashy and has a vintage feel to them. A little bargaining also will go a long way!!

Then we have all those great designer pieces that are drool worthy. I can't have enough of the rings by Monique pean, Roberto Cavalii, yves saint laurent and Christina Rotondaro.

I have seriously become very lazy nowadays. Though fashion is changing everyday, I still find myself struggling to find something to write about!! The other day in the mall, I couldn't even find one dress that I liked and those which managed to catch my attention were way overpriced. hmm.. So much for shopping therapy!! I guess I have to find something else to comfort me ..

JUMPSUITS

I have been closely watching the revival of the jumpsuit trend. Slowly but surely its making its way and seeping into the summer fashion scene and I for one is pleased. I still remember the dungrees that I used to adore wearing years back, which then gradually had faded away. Well in fashion, what goes around, comes around and it has with loads of glam no less. Jumpsuits can be a little tricky to wear but you can select the one that suits your body type.

The resort wear collection from Chanel has a very spring-summer feel to it. The fabrics been used are light weight and breezy making them ideal choices for the hot summer evenings. The full length jumpsuits suit long legs so people who are petite can either wear stilettos or else go for something shorter and above the knees. Also a v necked style creates an illusion of height.

It is best to avoid very loose fitted jumpsuits as it doesn't look good hanging. At the same time, tight fitted ones also need to be worn accordingly. Jumpsuits suit all occasions.. Shopping, Brunches, Evenings and also for those night outs. If you are bored with wearing the same old LBD's and skirts, then just jump into one, accessorize with sky-high heels and blingy belts and watch heads turn.

HAIR DRESSING

According to a recent survey, it seems those people who are more stressed are more adept to changing their hairstyles more often... Well going through the history of my hair style changing rituals, I wished they would have mentioned the figures as well..But common I mean it's totally so hot in Mumbai that it feels like I been baked in an oven.. I think heat is a cause of stress for me so the other day I made a list of some of the best places to get a haircut in Mumbai and since i am a very generous soul I will share it with you..

1. Vanessa's hair Disturbia

Store Location: RNA Complex,Lokhandwala, Andheri West

She is just 27 years but has an experience of around 11 years. She is quite talented and is opposed to the blow drying of hair daily which is perfect since most of the hair dressers focus on just styling your hair with ample beauty products rather than giving your hair a proper cut. She works on the actual shape and texture of your hair which i think is superb.

Charges : Rs 550 including hair wash

2. Lakme

Store location: Waterfield Road, Bandra West

I used to get my hair cuts from a hairstylist called Gulzar here. He was my favorite and has an idea about whats really trendy and in fashion. I love the way he used to style my fringes and bangs. I don't have any idea about the other stylist there.

Charges: Rs 700 for a haircut including a hair wash

3. Mad o Wot by Sapna Bhavani

Store Location: Hemkund Villa, 14th road, Bandra West

Who doesn't know the celebrity stylist Sapna Bhavani? From cutting her own hair to such a big name, she has done it all. Her clients include Bipasha basu, dhoni, priyanka, hrithik... The list is endless. Her parlour sees a mix of both the worlds. If you are an experimental person and love to live life on the edge, quirky, funky; she is your saviour!!

4. Juice salon

Store Location: Ground Floor, Grace Classic, Ahimsa Marg, off Khar danda

Shop No 2, Chetak Society, Pali Hill, Bandra

Royal Terrace, 4B, Wodehouse Road, Near Charagh Din showroom, Colaba

Inorbit Mall, Plot no 39/1, Shop num G19, Ground floor, Sector 30A, Vashi, New Mumbai

Its one of the oldest salons in Mumbai. It was started in 1998 and since then has become a fashion house for the hair. If you want to get a whole new look complete with extensions and hair colours, then this is the place for you.

Charges: Rs. 500-Rs 1800 for a haircut with hair wash

5. Nalini and yasmin

Store Location: Om heera Panna mall, 3rd floor, Off Andheri Link Road,Andheri west

39, Sun n Sand hotel, Juhu Beach, Juhu

                                  201/202,Sagar Fortune, 2nd floor, Waterfield road,Bandra West

It's a pioneer in professional hairdressing. The salon was established as a brand itself and has been around for 3 decades.

RUFFLES, LACES AND MORE!!

Skinny jeans and tees are good. But sometimes I really miss the girly, old-fashioned vintage look. I think a girl can look so much more beautiful in laced dresses and slightly puffed sleeves. So I was really elated to find them back on the ramps. I am very happy with the old world charm. I am not talking about the lovely Victorian gowns but a more subtle approach towards ruffles and laces. I almost went into a trance as I watched these beauties and really can't wait for them to trickle down to the stores.

SUNSHINE!!

Come summers and I try to ditch my favorite black and opt for more bright and vibrant colours. Plus lately I have felt a little dull with the monotonous dark shades so yeah why not get a whole new favorite colour right?? So I made it my short-term mission to find a new colour to obsess with.. My hunt led me to this shoe store when this amazing yellow gladiator heels caught my eye. It was truly a work of art (Due to the strict no picture policy I couldn't take a picture of it). What struck me most I think was that I knew it was the colouring which did the trick and made it soooo amazing. Had it been in blue or pinks I wouldn't have been so impressed I am sure. Thats when yellow found itself a fan; moi.

It started happening to me again. I started hunting for more yellow pieces. I discovered that yellow belts look so amazing with whites and greys. I also found these glam strapless sequined yellow dresses from AND (Anita dongre).

These are some of the photos that I found online and I simply loved the styles.

[caption id="attachment_197" align="aligncenter" width="480" caption="Image via dripbook.com"][/caption]

Yellow is a very bright colour so we really have to keep in mind our skin tones and how much of it we are wearing. For instance if I want to wear a yellow dress, I would choose a dress in light lemony shades and stay away from anything which is too bright or fluorescent. The shade of the dress in the above picture is just right for a lunch date or an evening out. You don't want people to wear glares when they are looking at you right??

If you aren't too comfortable sporting this colour, you can always go for smaller pieces like yellow shoes, hairbands, earings, bracelets, belts etc. You can brighten your outfits like white shirts and skinny jeans by adding a yellow belt or a pair of yellow heels or a yellow clutch to it.

FLORAL LOVE

I have recently become a big fan of Nanette Lepore. Her clothes reflect a very young, ultra chic style and is very feminine.

These are some of the photos from the Mercedes-Benz Fashion week 2003 and I still feel I can wear them this summer. That what I call a very futuristic approach to fashion!!

I love the styles. Not very fitted but structured and use of flowy fabrics which makes them an ideal choice for the summer heat. And the best thing that I have noticed is that nothing has changed much. Even today it's all about floral and big prints. I am happy!!

Nanette Lepore's collection for spring 2010 is more brighter and bold. There is a beautiful blend of colors with blues and greens and yellows. Very glam i think.

MORE WHITES!!

The white  net frock with the white gladiator wedges makes for an interesting combo. The dress extends a vintage look to the ensemble.

This white sequined tunic top paired with black stockings is perfect for an evening shopping spree.
